Amesbury: Two collapse near Russian spy poisoning site been ‘poisoned by nerve agent’

A man and woman who were found unconscious in  Amesbury in Wiltshire were poisoned with Novichok, the same nerve agent that had poisoned ex-Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his Daughter Police have said.

The Wiltshire couple, named locally as Charlie Rowley and Dawn Sturgess, are currently in critical condition in Salisbury after they were found unconscious at a house on Saturday. To start with it initially treated as a suspected drugs-related incident.

Police have said that there’s nothing to suggest the pair were targeted. Met Counter Terrorism Police are now leading the investigation.

Wiltshire Police have said the public can now expect to see an increased police presence in and around Amesbury and Salisbury.
