Swindon Foodbank this afternoon announced that they are closing the charity including the Men’s Shed and Renew.
They said the following in a statement on their Facebook Page:
Swindon Foodbank blames the closure on the combined impact of difficult governance, operational and also funding issues. ‘We appreciate this news will be disturbing for many of you and for people across Swindon. We are currently working with The Trussell Trust to explore a short-term interim solution. That interim solution is not ready yet, so I ask for your patience and cooperation while we explore the possible interim solutions with churches, the agencies and partners to ensure emergency food is still available for local people in crisis and while the charity considers closure and continues to seek viable alternatives.
For now Swindon Foodbank’s planned food centre sessions, food collections, storage arrangements and Voucher Distribution will continue as normal.
