Swindon Makerspace are hosting a open day on Sunday 8th.
If you are wondering what Swindon Makerspace is, it’s a place where like-minded people can come and use the facilities to make things such as Woodwork, Metalwork, Electronics, Crafts such as Leatherwork, Sewing, T-shirt Printing and more more.
The Swindon Makerspace has a huge range of tools at a members disposal, including a Laser Cutter, 3D Printers, CNC Mills, Metal Lathe and Mill, Woodwork Lathe, Bandsaw, electronic equipment such as Oscilloscopes, Meters, Power supplies and Solder Stations, Craft tools, Sewing machines and also a Multifunction Heat Press.
Swindon Makerspace is a Non-Profit Community Interest Company which is ran by the members for the members.
Swindon Makerspace opened its doors in May 2016 with a small 600 sq ft workshop in BSS House which is located in Cheney Manor. After a year of rapid growth it was obvious they needed more space, so they took on another 300 sq ft unit whilst starting construction of a mezzanine floor above their existing workshop.
Thousands of volunteer hours later, that major construction project was completed and now Swindon Makerspace have a 1600 sqft workshop comprising a Metal-shop, Wood-shop, Electronics & Craft Room, Fabrication room (for the Laser Cutter and CNC Mills), Spray Booth, Project Storage, Members Lounge and a Kitchenette.
